Relief and Support

 

Churches across the City of Whitehorse are working together to support those in the community who need assistance.

Food Assistance: If you are in need of food support, the following churches may be able to help:

  • NewHope Baptist Church (3 Springfield Rd, Blackburn North): 10am-2pm Monday to Wednesday (ph: 9890 7999)
  • Crossway LifeCare (709 Highbury Rd, Burwood East): 3pm-5pm (Monday), 10-12pm (Wednesday and Thursday) (ph: 9886 3899)
  • Stairway Church (171 Rooks Rd, Vermont) Food Pantry: Tuesdays 2pm-4pm Wednesdays 10am-12pm (ph: 9837 2985)
  • One Community Church (184 Surrey Rd, Blackburn): 10-12pm (Monday) (ph: 88782500)
  • Box Hill Baptist Church (3 Ellingworth Parade): 1.30-2.30pm (Thursday), 7.30-8.30am (Saturday) – primarily bakery items (ph: 9890 1275)
  • The Salvation Army Box Hill (1010 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:30am to 2pm (ph: 9897 9000)

Supplies: If you would like to donate food supplies, this is a suggested shopping list. Donations can be dropped at:

  • One Church – Mondays 9.30am-12pm (184 Surrey Road, Blackburn).
  • Stairway Church – Mondays-Thursdays 9am-5pm (171 Rooks Rd, Vermont)
  • Crossway Baptist Church – Mondays-Fridays 9am-5pm (2 Vision Drive, Burwood East)
  • NewHope Baptist Church – Mondays-Fridays 9am-4.30pm (into “blue bins” just inside the doors) (3 Springfield Rd, Blackburn North)

Whitehorse Churches Care has been partnering with members of Box Hill Police Station to provide care packs for people in the community isolated due to Covid-19. Thanks to Community Connector Ian Bunston (Neighbourhoods Now) for facilitating this partnership and capturing these stories.
